The "Balaclava Rd" Benney Family

Our Benney family extends from the coast of California, in the United States, to England. 

The oldest living member of our Benney family is Ellen who lives in England.  She is now 97. Most of her family is still in the UK with the exception of some distant cousins in Canada and in California. 

Walter Henry Benney (b Feb 8th 1913) married Ellen Leigh (b March 16th 1910) on July 23rd 1936.  Walter Henry died: Nov 24th 1993

Clifford Kenneth Benney (b 1916) married Monica Leigh in about 1940.  They had a son Kenneth Charles Benney  (b 1947) Kenneth currently lives in Bristol, UK.

Clifford Kenneth was the younger brother of Walter Henry.

Monica Leigh was the half-sister of Ellen Leigh.

The younger sister of Walter Henry and Clifford Kenneth - Kathleen Benney (b 1924)  never married but bore a daughter Jean Elizabeth Benney (b May 1st 1942) who married Michael Waters in 1966.   They have 2 sons and a daughter.   Jean and Mike live in Henbury, Bristol, England.

Kathleen lived in the old family home at 2 Balaclava Road, Fishponds all of her life, but died in 2004.

John Quentin Henry Benney (b May 11th 1943-d March 2nd 2007) and his wife Barbara Irene (nee Hughes) live in South Derbyshire.  John and Barbara were married at St Nicholas' Catholic Church, Redfield, Bristol on Dec 12th 1964. With very sad news, Benney Family Patriarch John Quentin Henry died from complications due to long ill health.

Josephine Helen Margot Benney (b April 26th 1946) was married to Brian Smith and then Nigel Mitra. She and her family now live in the Black Country, England; She has two children Alex and Carlos.

Their children - Tamsin, Pascha, Leah and Jared also live in the UK, with exception of Joshua is living in USA.

Tamsin Rachel Sarah Benney (b Sept 19th 1965) married Gary Elsom (Dec 2nd 2000).  Tamsin has 3 children from a previous marriage - Nathan Jon (b Jan 14th 1988); Jade Elizabeth (b Jan 24th 1989); Isaac James (b May 18th 1991)  Tamsin and her children, live in Co. Durham, NE England with exception of Nathan who lives with his Grandparents in South Derbyshire.

Pascha Jane Benney (b Feb 28th 1975) is single and has 2 children from a previous marriage - Caitlin Rebekah (b May 22nd 2000) and Mackenzie Emilie (b Dec 25th 2003)  Pascha and her daughters live in South Derbyshire, England.

Leah Barbara Benney (b Dec 27th 1976) is engaged to Andy Eaton. they have 3 children, oldest son, Harry Oliver Benney (born Feb 8th 2003)  Harry was born on the 90th anniversary of the birth of his Great-Grandfather - Walter Henry Benney (b. Feb 8th 1913-d. Nov 24th 1993) and is named after his GGF who was always known as Harry (or Our 'Ar).  Also gave birth to fraternal twins, called Amber & George on 15th June 2004. They live in their house in a little village called Forsbrook on the edge of the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Youngest son,  Jared William Henry Benney (b Jan 2nd 1978) married Sharon Hadley on July 29th 2000. So we welcomed another new Mrs. Benney to the family on that day. Jared and Sharon live in Coventry, England.

Eldest son, Joshua Oliver John Benney, lives in the USA with the love of his life--his wife, Kris (She was the first of the new Mrs. Benney's to join the family when she married Josh)  Josh emigrated to the USA with Kris on May 1st 2000 and they were married in Boise, Idaho on June 21st of that same year.  Kris has two children from a previous marriages -Adrian Glen Britt (b July 8th 1989) and Kori LaRee Schoeler (b April 1st 1993) Kris gave birth to third child on Jan 10th 2005, naming her, Rachel Ellen Kristin Benney making Josh his first child.

2002 also saw all four current Mrs. Benney's in one place together at one time - Ellen, Barbara, Kris and Sharon, when Josh, Kris and the kids came to the UK.

Other family members include:

Walter Benney (father of Walter Henry) (b circa 1876) married Mary Anne Rossiter (married circa 1910).   Dates of birth and marriage uncertain here.

Walter and Mary Anne lived at 2 Balaclava Road, Fishponds, Bristol all their married life.

The data above is not in the strictest of chronological order but if you need any clarification feed your queries through Josh who will farm it out to the appropriate family member for a reply.
